Happy New Year!
I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday season.
The new year always creates an opportunity to reset, recharge and dream big.
If you’re ready to start the year with purpose and drive, here are five strategies to help you create an abundant and fulfilling 2022.
#1 Set intentions so big that it scares you
The safe way to begin goal-setting is to create goals that you know are achievable.
But what if you raised the bar and had to level up to reach your dreams?
What’s possible?
As an entrepreneur, one of my intentions this year is to double my revenue from 2021. I’m not sure exactly how I’ll get there, but it forces me to think and act differently than before.
I’m up for the challenge. And, so are you.
Select an audacious intention and design your strategy to achieve that goal. To challenge you further, share your goal with someone else. It takes courage and vulnerability to share our biggest dreams with others.
#2 Expect great things to happen
In 2021, I generated more revenue in my business than what I earned in my corporate salary in 2020. My husband asked me if I expected this, and I confidently told him ‘yes’!
When you expect great things to happen, you are putting trust in yourself.
When I quit my job, I trusted that my business would do well because I knew this was the right path for me. I was ready to put in the hard work and I had faith in my talents and abilities, even if I didn’t have it all figured out.
Every referral, every opportunity and every client that came my way, I received with both gratitude and expectation.
Are you expecting great things to happen? If not, what will it take to bet on yourself? Because my money is already on you.
#3 Release attachment to outcomes
Have you ever chosen to not take a step towards your goals because you were afraid that it wouldn’t turn out exactly how you’d like? That’s what it means to have an attachment to outcomes.
We mistakenly tie our self-worth to something that’s out of our control. We can’t control how others will respond, but we can choose who we will be on the journey.
Let’s say your goal is to get a new job this year, but you haven’t applied for anything because you’re afraid that you won’t get a call back. Instead of learning from the experience, you begin to second-guess whether you have what it takes to get to the next level.
Try this. Instead of being attached to whether or not you’ll hear from the company, apply for the job and choose to be courageous by hitting ‘submit’.
The cherry on top will be when you land your next job. The real win is who you are becoming in the process.
What outcomes are you attached to? What action steps have you been putting off? Step into your power and recognize that by taking action, you have already won.
#4 Choose one limiting belief that you will no longer believe is true
One of the loudest voices that we listen to is our own. But does your voice empower you or does it instill fear?
Does it tell you that you’ll fail? That you’re not enough? That you don’t deserve joy?
If your voice is telling you something that disempowers you, I can assure you what you’re hearing is not true.
You have a choice. Will you stay shackled to fear and continue to listen to the voice that holds you back from living your dreams? Or, will you quiet the voice with the truth of who and what you really are?
What false narratives are you telling yourself? Don’t worry, it’s just a habit that you’ve created. Write down 2-3 examples of how this narrative is not true. Create a new habit of telling yourself a different narrative that reminds you of your talents and abilities.
#5 Step powerfully into your courage zone
We all know that staying in our comfort zone prevents us from reaching our goals. But our courage zone is where the magic happens.
Your courage zone is where you push past the boundaries of what you already know and courageously step into new learning, growth, and confidence.
Taking action, even in small steps, feels uncomfortable/scary/overwhelming, but it’s necessary if you want to live the life you’re meant to live.
Where do you need more courage? What will you do to take one step into your courage zone?
I’m so excited for what you’ll create this year! Comment below with your big intentions so that I can cheer you on!
Let’s go get it!
